How To Talk to Kids About Autism ft. Mrs. Speechie P

How to Talk to Kids About Autism

Featuring Mrs. Speechie P.

No autistic child should feel like there is something wrong with them.

Autism isn’t bad or wrong - it’s a difference in how the brain thinks, communicates, and learns.

We need to help kids understand different brains. However, doing so in a positive and inclusive manner can sometimes be very challenging.

That is why on this week’s episode of Making the Shift, we are inviting Andi Putt (also known as Mrs. Speechie P) to join us as we discuss how to talk to kids about autism.

Who is Andi Putt?

Andi Putt, also known as Mrs. Speechie P, is a speech language pathologist who specializes in autism assessments.

Andi is passionate about supporting families and is a disability advocate. She created Mrs. Speechie P as a personal blog to help parents provide support to their children at home.

Andi recognized the need for a neurodiversity affirming resource that reframes how parents and other professionals view autism which led her to create The Autism Handbook. She recently released The Autism Handbook for Kids which is designed for both autistic and non-autistic kids who are interested in learning more about autism.

Andi lives in Texas with her family and enjoys hanging out in her PJs, reading, and taking family trips, especially to the beach.
